Unwrap your crisp new 2016 diary, the new year is about to begin. From movies to music, art and fashion: Here’s what 2016 will bring us. Whether you were posh, ginger or baby in the 90’s no doubt you were just as obsessed with the pop girl group as me.
Spice up your life
The 8th July sees the 20th anniversary of this girl power band, could they be lining up a comeback? – I sincerely hope so. I’ll tell you what I want, a reunions what I want, what I really, really want. Get ready to grab your platform heels, fuzzy backpacks and wail into your poppable hairbrush this summer.
Her Majesty the Queen will turn the big 9-0 this year. I have no idea what she’ll get this year, rumoured usual gifts are brooches, marzipan and homemade honey butter are some of the official gifts received by Queen Elizabeth II – but I hope she gets a new corgi. Happy birthday and all, but are we going to get a new Holiday for the occasion? I hope so.
The Queen has two Corgis: Holly and Willow as well as two Dorgis (cross-breed of Dachshund and Corgi): Candy and Vulcan.
ANTI stands for anticipation. The long awaited album from Rihanna is coming out this year, some even say perhaps this month. Rumoured collaborations featuring Eminem, Lady Gaga, Drake and many more. Frustrating fans with her ANTI YouTube diaries, showing fans the mood of her album and we can see she’s got something big planned.
Shut the front Dior
Raf Simons left Dior in October last year but who is going to replace him? One of fashion’s top jobs is up for grabs and the list of potentials is endless. From Christopher Kane, JW Anderson, Marc Jacobs, John Galliano and Rick Owens and Jil Sander it’s hard to predict who’s going to get the job, so we’re just going to have to wait and see. He will be sorely missed.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens tore up box office records at the end of 2015, but this doesn’t mean I can’t start looking forward to what’s coming in 2016. DC Comics Vs Marvel – battle it out for biggest comic book blockbusters this year with Deadpool, Captain America: Civil War, X-Men: Apocalypse, Suicide Squad, Gambit and Doctor Strange.
But if that doesn’t tickle your fancy there’s Finding Dory, Ghostbusters, The Jungle Book, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows and Zoolander 2 for your inner kid. See NME and IMDB for more!
Please Sir, I Want
Predicting the next big food for 2016 is like guessing what the weathers going to be like this Christmas – everyone has a go but very few get it right. Last year saw avocado on toast, kale and chia breakfast bowls with every topping imaginable overload your feeds. This year trends will include savoury yoghurt, Hawaiian raw fish salads known as Pokē, bowl foods like acai breakfast bowls and Brazilian food inspired by people travels for the Rio 2016 Olympics.
East Asian beauty must-haves
Since the instant global popularization of BB creams a while back, South Korea’s scientifically advanced, charmingly packaged cosmetics have made the country the destination of choice for make-up and skin-care fans with a taste for adventure. Like me Koreans are serious about their skin care so you can guarantee I’ll be first in line.
Running rings around you
Less than 200 days until the highly anticipated and wildly controversial Rio 2016 Olympics. And if you’re like me you’ll be watching the opening ceremony with bated breath with the intention of watching loads of events. However, really you watch maybe 5 events during the entire event.
It’s gonna be a busy year!
